Lantern Light Cemetery Tour
July 30 & 31, 2010
8:30 to 10:00 pm.
The Warren County Historical Society presents its first ever Lantern Light Cemetery Tours led by its Historian, Mr. John Zimkus. The tour includes re-enactments of past citizens of Warren County who are buried in Lebanon Cemetery. Guests will be lead through cemetery via the cemetery roads carrying only a candle lantern to light their way. The tour will visit the graves of seventeen prominent citizens where guests will meet the “spirit” of the departed.
Designed to be part history lesson, part ghost tour, the Lantern Light Cemetery Tour will thrill and educate at the same time. Volunteers from the Glendower Historic Characters group will play the parts of the citizens of old. Dressed in costume, each character will emerge from the shadows from behind his or her tombstone and speak to the guests about their character’s lives and life in old Lebanon.
The tours will begin at dusk (approximately 8:30 pm at the end of July) and end approximately at 10:00 pm. Guests should plan to park on Silver Street and other surrounding streets, not in the cemetery.
This event is a fund raiser for the Warren County Historical Society and all proceeds will go to benefit Glendower historic mansion.
Tickets will cost $20.00 each for adults, students under 18 are $10.00. Maximum number of tickets for each evening is 35. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
